The importance of using proper underlayments cannot be stressed enough, regardless of the type of floor you are using. Underlayments are different from subfloors. An underlayment sits between the structural sub-floor of the actual foundation and the flooring material. Underlayments are meant to absorb the roughness, or imperfections of subfloors, so that the flooring can be installed on top of a smooth surface that will give the flooring material extra support. There are different types of underlayments for each application so consulting with a professional is highly recommended.
A quality installation can make a world of difference in the appearance of your flooring, a bad installation can compromise the overall look of the flooring and potentially decrease the lifespan of your purchase. It’s always better to do it right the first time rather than have to start over. You may also want to ask about the warranty of the product you are buying and if the installation will affect the guarantee.
